热偶式规管由加热丝与用来测量加热丝温度的热电偶两部分构成。热电偶的一端(即热端)与加热丝相连,另一端作为冷端引出管外,通过管座接至测量热偶电势的毫伏计。
工作时,将与被测真空系统相接的热偶式规管的加热丝通以一定的加热电流,在低真空状态下,热电偶产生的热电势决定于周围气体的压强,这是因为加热丝温度的变化取决于气体分子的热传导,当压强降低时,气体传走的热量减少,加热丝的温度随之升高,于是热电势增大,情况相反时,则热电势减小。图3-4为热偶电势随压强变化的实验曲线。
